Bridge House is a traditional country cottage perfect for those who want to unwind in the peaceful scenic location of Cartmel Fell. Sleeping 6 in 3 comfortable bedrooms, it is an ideal property for a family or group of friends holidaying together. The cottage is set on a peaceful lane amidst a country garden with an orchard and with only an occasionally occupied converted barn next door, guaranteeing you a truly undisturbed retreat!
There is a lovely Rayburn in the kitchen to keep the cottage warm and cosy through the colder months. There is also a wood burner in the sitting room and electric heating throughout. The owners provide maps to the local area that you are welcome to borrow.
Bridge House is detached and set amidst rolling countryside. The large garden is perfect for kids to run around and burn off excess energy. There are public footpaths across the fields to the nearby hamlet of Bowland Bridge where there are two good pubs. There are lovely country walks of varying difficulty straight from the door including Whitbarrow Scar and Gummers How, which has stunning views of Windermere.
The Winster Valley is lightly populated and benefits from pretty, peaceful lanes, open fields and views of the limestone cliff of Whitbarrow. Windermere is just a 15-minute drive away and the town of Bowness just another five minutes from there. In the surrounding area there is an aquarium at Newby Bridge and Beatrix Potter’s home at Far Sawrey. You can also visit the coastal peninsulas and the market town of Kendal.
