Beautiful peaceful place. We stayed at Bridge End for one week as a base for our holiday. The cottage is a quaint 300 year old building situated at the end of a long track in the corner of a farm. It offers seclusion, a lovely nearby river/stream (just about the right depth for young kids to paddle), local fell walks and lots of sheep.
It's a good place to cut yourself off from the world (though the local Morrisons and Aldi are only a 10 minute drive away). The cottage was clean and homely. My only gripe might be the lack of a DVD player. With no wifi and indifferent TV reception the opportunity to play a DVD to keep young kids happy in an evening would have been welcome.
Overall though, I'd recommend this cottage as a base for a Lakeland stay.

Hi Charles, thank you for taking the time to write a review. It sounds like you had a great time at Bridge End. It's the perfect place to get away from it all and recharge the batteries isn't it? I hope the kids had fun exploring.
I'll pass your suggestion for a DVD player on to the owners for consideration, thank you.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

A fabulous place to stay, wether you want to get away from it all (no Wi-fi in the valley) or do the touristy stuff! Over the past 15 years we have stayed in both the cottage and the barn and we enjoy hill walking and cycling, we love visiting this beautiful place, its peace and tranquility is a blessing. Kendal is just 15 minutes away. There is much to visit and see in this area, its worth planning some trips beforehand as there is so much to choose from - Muncaster Castle is well worth a visit, along with Beatrix Potter and the boat trips on Windermere to name but a few.
The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable, and the owner is lovely too!

Wonderful stay. We have stayed at both the Cottage and Barn over many years and enjoyed every visit. This is Gods country.

Thanks so much for your great feedback, Basil. This is definitely a place you either love or hate, isn't it! Long walks along the river and up onto the fells or lazy days just doing nothing - perfect! Looking forward to your next visit....
