Brett Cottage is a warm and welcoming retreat for up to three people in the charming market town of Appleby. Situated just a short potter from the historic town centre this semi-detached sandstone cottage has been beautifully refurbished to make the most of light and space. The owners have retained period features keeping its character while updating the interior with contemporary decor, comfortable furnishings and modern appliances. It makes the perfect base for a couple or small family from which to enjoy the attractions of the Eden Valley.
Appleby-in-Westmorland is a picturesque and thriving Eden Valley town with plenty to keep visitors entertained. The wonderful Carlisle to Settle railway line runs through the town; the station is only 500m from the cottage, so visitors can catch one of the regular services to experience the stunning scenery or watch one of the heritage steam specials as they visit Appleby Station. Boroughgate, the town's historic main street, has been described as "one of the finest in England". Why not take a gentle walk along the banks of the River Eden which encircles the town taking in Appleby Castle and enjoy a little retail therapy around Boroughgate's independent shops on your return? There are plenty of well-regarded eateries just a short walk from Brett Cottage too.
The town is also wonderfully placed to make the most of its natural surroundings. The Dales Way, the Pennine Way and the Westmorland Way all pass nearby while the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales are just a short drive if you'd like to explore further afield. Take a walk up Dufton Pike or perhaps explore the stunning glacial valley known as High Cup Nick just four miles from the cottage. Discover the area on two wheels if you'd rather, there's a wealth of cycleways and quiet bridleways on which to challenge yourself. So whether you're a history buff, a railway enthusiast or someone who loves the great outdoors Brett Cottage makes a perfect place to spend a holiday.
