The cottage was pleasant, warm and well lit. The location was lovely, peaceful and quiet. Suitable for 2 people, the kitchen had most home comforts i.e. microwave, utensils and crockery.

The only negative about our stay was the mould in the fridge, which we cleaned out, and the spider webs, which we hoovered up.

Overall, we would stay there again.

Hello Andrew and Amanda, Thank you for your review. It's a super cosy cottage, isn't it? You couldn't have picked a better location to escape from the hustle and bustle for a while. I have noted your feedback and I will look into this further. I'm thrilled you had a really great stay and I hope you will plan a return trip to the beautiful Lakes very soon.

We had a lovely stay for a long weekend.
The cottage was nice and clean and the log burner was great and made it lovely and warm.

Think the lounge would benefit from a small sofa rather than two chairs so you can sit together.

You can hear people moving around in the upstairs flat but that didn’t bother us.

Couldn’t get ITV on the tv to watch the rugby!

Would stay here again!

Hi Rhian, many thanks for your comments, I'm so happy to hear that you had such an enjoyable stay. You really can't beat a nice cosy log burner, can you? Here's to more Cumbrian adventures!

The cottage is situated underneath kirksty brow, which makes it a little dark. The noise from the occupants above is quite loud, creaky floorboards and scraping chairs. I found the bed very uncomfortable, but then I think I find most bed uncomfortable. It also creaks when you turn over which is not good if you share with a light sleeper.
The layout is small but fine. The kitchen has everything you would need to make a small meal. It was hard to understand how the heating it controlled, the information in the cottage said it was on constantly but it isn’t. It did come one once whilst we were there, but the radiator in the lounge isn’t working. We did use the electric heater on a couple of occasions as it was chilly at night, I think due to the cottage being stone.
The TV was missing C3, C4 and C5, which could be an issue for some people.
The good points are it is situated in a great location, only 5 minutes from Ullswater, 10 minutes from the junction 40 M6 and 15 from Penrith and the nearest supermarkets. There are some nice pubs for meals just a short car ride away.
The cottage is pet friendly and there is a bridal way to walk along to exercise your dog.
I personally wouldn’t stay in this particular property again, but that is not a bad reflection on Sally’s cottages, it was the bed and the noise from above that would make me chose elsewhere.
