- We were impressed by Bluebell cottage. It was larger than appeared on the photos, and the interior furnishings were homely and of great quality..
The garden was lovely, with beautiful trees....much appreciated by someone who only has a flagged back yard! It was very relaxing to sit in the sun room and look out on this.
We didn't see any local amenities, but this wasn't much of a problem, as we stocked up and carried food etc up with us. However, a local store selling firewood would have been appreciated, when we realised on arrival only a few very small pieces of wood had been left, and we couldn't make up a fire.
The real negative was the central heating being set up for "timed". Neither of us are very technical, and did not know how to override it. I have Raynaud's disease, so need to keep warm! On Sunday, when we returned soaked to the skin, and i was frozen, i did figure out how to turn up the temp on the heating, which helped. We also woke up cold through the first night. I managed to find a heavier tog duvet in the spare room cupboard, and put it on top of the other.
We both agreed we would stay in the cottage again, despite these issues.
