The Lake District is a great place to bring your dog on holiday. Here is a list of our top 5 places to eat out with your dog in the Lake District. 

1 - The Dog and Gun in Keswick, 017687 73463
This famous Lakeland pub in the centre of Keswick has recently been refurbished. The new owners have retained all the old charm and updated some of the furnishings to include two lovely open fires. The Dog and Gun is the go to pub for dog owners. It has long had a reputation for being dog friendly and you will often be outnumbered on the dog to people ratio. 2 - Wasdale Head Inn, 019467 26229
One of the most remote pubs in the Lake District is the Wasdale Head Inn. It is a historic building in the Wasdale Valley and was originally called the Wastwater Hotel. The walls are decorated with photos depicting the bygone age of the hobnail boot and historic first climbs in the Lake District and abroad. Many pictures are by the famous Abraham brothers. The Wasdale Head Inn is incredibly dog friendly.  There is a pile of towels for you to dry off soggy dogs in the hallway and a wash basket for used towels. 3 - Santon Bridge Inn, 019467 26221
The Santon Bridge Inn is the ideal choice for a post walk pint or meal. It is a dog friendly pub with a roaring open fire in the bar and a great menu of filling lunches. Located near Wasdale, this is the perfect pub to stopp of at if you've been exploring the valley.

4 - Cavendish Arms Cartmel, 015395 36240
Cartmel is a real foodie destination. It is also very dog friendly. There is a popular cheese deli, Sticky Toffee pudding shop and several good dog friendly pubs including the Cavendish Arms in the centre of Cartmel in the South Eastern Lake District. 5 - Golden Rule Ambleside, 015394 32257

The Golden Rule in Ambleside is something of a rarity as far as pubs go in this modern age of all day menus and piped music The Golden Rule is thoroughly traditional. There is no music and no food although they do serve generously filled rolls, huge scotch eggs and pork pies from the bar.
