October really is a beautiful time to visit the Lakes, with the stunning mix of orange autumn leaves, twinkling lakeshores and a whole host of cosy coffee shops what’s not to love? Whether you are looking for an action filled autumn adventure, an activity packed week of fun for the kids or a romantic wander with spectacular views of the Lake District fells – we have it all right here for you to enjoy. So pack your favourite wellies and outdoor coat and we’ll look forward to seeing you soon at one of our Lake District Cottages. Why not save time and plan a few things in before you arrive with us for your break, here’s just a few ideas how to make the most of October!

Half Term Fun at Brockhole
Brockhole, on the shores of Windermere, just outside Bowness is a great place to keep all ages entertained. With stunning views and lakeshore activities like mini golf, bike hire and boat hire plus the award winning Tree Top Trek it’s definitely a good thing to have on your list!

This October Half Term there are a number of spooky Halloween events that might just make your holiday plans frighteningly easy. Simply read all about the selection of treats on offer and book your places online.

An Autumn guided walk
Don’t worry if you don’t know the area well, guided walks are organised by the Lake District National Park Authority several times during the week. What a great way to discover some of the best walks around, no map required! This October half term, there are a number of walks you can join including beautiful Bannerdale and Bowscale, the Coppermines Valley and Levers Water, or perhaps the stunning Monk Coniston Tree Walk?

Watersports adventures on Coniston
If you visiting the Lake District it’s only fair that you make some time to experience our lakes and waters to their full capacity – yes, we mean watersports, it’s time to feel the wind in your hair!
Coniston Boating Centre hire out electric motor boats, rowing boats which seat up to six, canoes and kayaks, sailing boats and bikes, all from the shores of England's loveliest lake.

Saddle up and take the bike boat!
Over the half term you can make the most of the Lakes by bike and join in a ride taken by British Cycling-trained leaders, let them show you the quiet side of Windermere by crossing the lake on the unique bike boat. The ride takes place on 28th October starting from The Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole.
