October Half Term in the Lake District

Published:

Keep the little ones smiling this October half term with a fun filled trip to the Lake District!

There's so much to do and many of the activities on offer wont cost you a penny. Your little ones will love building dens in Glenridding, paddling in Wast Water and walking through Whinlatter Forest.

With so much on offer here, the hardest part is deciding where to start.

Muncaster Castle is great for children, they will love The World Owl Centre and the Meadow Vole Maze, while the grown ups can enjoy a lovely cup of tea and a slice of cake in Creeping Kate's Cafe.

We also recommend a trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway which takes a beautiful journey for seven-miles from the coastal village of Ravenglass through to Eskdale. It passes the most stunning valley's on the way.

There are lots of animal parks too which the kids will love. The Trotters World of Animals in Bassenthwaite is fantastic and filled with exotic species and farm animals too. It's great to visit whatever the weather and has a play area and delicious cafe too! If the weather is good, the nearby woods are great for exploring afterwards.

The South Lakes Wild Animal Park in Dalton-in-Furness is another treat the kids will love! Children of all ages can enjoy taking part in feeding the animals and the little train which goes around this sprawling park.
