New guide to the Eden Valley

Our Eden Valley area guide has had a face lift! We have taken on several new self catering cottages in the Eden Valley recently so it was high time our Area Guide had some TLC.

Long Meg in the Eden Valley
The Eden Valley encompasses much more than just the course of the River Eden. It covers an area from the fringes of Ullswater and Haweswater to the moorlands of the north Pennines and shares a border with the Yorkshire Dales. the landscape is incredibly varied and offers something of interest for everyone.

It is considered something of a hidden gem in Cumbria and is characterised by the gentle course of the river and scattered villages built of local sandstone.  The Settle to Carlisle line travels majestically through the centre of the valley across viaducts and through tunnels. This feat of engineering is one of the most scenic railways in the country and is a great way to explore the valley.
