Johnby Hall Barn is a newly converted gem of in the grounds of 14th century manor house, Johnby Hall. Converted from one of the beautiful sandstone outbuildings of the original hall, the whole place has been thoughtfully designed for guests to make the most of the history and magic of its ancient situation while still benefitting from all the comforts of a warm and welcoming modern home. It has retained original features such as exposed beams in the lofty double-height spaces while being elegantly decorated with sumptuous textiles, a subtle colour palette and antique furniture. It also benefits from fantastic, far-reaching views over fields to the Pennines in the distance.
It makes a fabulous holiday home for a couple or a family as, not only does it have extensive shared grounds with countless nooks and crannies to explore, but it is also a working farm with adorable pigs roaming about the surrounding fields from which Johnby's renowned sausages are made. It even has a walled orchard and an area of woodland for your little forest sprites to set up camp. For guests with an interest in history it's a truly magical place to stay. By prior arrangement with the owners guests at the cottage can even dine in the main hall at Johnby. Ascending the mighty stone staircase you'll be welcomed to the magnificent dining room with its deep sandstone windows and antique pianos. Perfect as a treat for a special occasion.

Eaglesfield is nestled in the heart of the beautiful Borrowdale Valley with views of the surrounding Northern Fells to the front, rear, and side of the cottage. It makes a perfect launchpad for all sorts of lake and mountain adventures, with two hotels open to non-residents and a cafe (frequented by Prince Charles on his visits to the valley) within 200 meters from the cottage. The cottage features a front and rear lawned garden, enclosed by original dry stone walls and is situated on a quiet country lane, so passing traffic is minimal.

Highgate Cottage, Ullswater
Highgate Cottage enjoys an enviable position in Watermillock. Overlooking Ullswater and with the living space located upstairs, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful views whilst you relax and unwind. Recently renovated by its current owners, this immaculate cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly want to make the most of your holiday. The spacious rooms include double and twin bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, and a light bright living/dining room with feature fireplace plus two large windows from which to admire the view. You have full access to the peaceful, shared garden with grass and seating areas, all of which again enjoy views to the lake.
Watermillock is a small, scattered rural village to the north of Ullswater. Quiet and tucked away, yet within easy reach of all the local attractions, it is ideally located for exploring the Northern Lake District. Walk from the door along rural lanes linking to footpaths up Little Mell Fell or across Swinburns Park to Gowbarrow Fell and Aira Force. Ten minutes' drive away is the attractive riverside village of Pooley Bridge with a good range of places to eat, gift shops, and a village store. For serious walkers, all the northeastern fells are on your doorstep: Place Fell, High Street, Helvellyn, Blencathra – the choice is yours.

Rural footpaths link with quiet local lanes to provide opportunities for walks from your door. For those of you of the cycling persuasion there is no better place to use as your base, with the countless routes you can travel from the cottage.
