This last weekend we were delighted to welcome a group of ladies to Croft House near Loweswater for a Bloggers' Retreat! The nine mums, who all run popular blogs on parenting and family life, were in the Lake District to relax amidst the beautiful scenery and to spend a weekend bouncing ideas around and generally get inspired!
Loweswater is a hidden Lake District gem. This small, peaceful lake is surrounded by low, gentle fells that are a great option if you want to gain some height without too much effort. With its proximity to the Cumbrian coast, the views from the tops take in a spectacular panorama of sea, fields, lakes, and mountains.
The lake itself boasts an easy route, too, and you can walk the full circumference without too much difficulty (though there is a bit of on-road walking). Its southwestern shore is particularly wonderful, and wheelchair accessible, with ancient woodland, a pebble shore with rope swings, and a hidden waterfall! You'll also come across a few wooden bird hides, which the kids will love a picnic in, or you can keep very quiet and try and spot some of the lovely red squirrels that play in these woods.
If you want to get on the water here, you can hire rowing boats from the National Trust's Watergate Farm, at the southeast end of the lake.
Finish off your day with a tasty treat at the Kirkstile Inn, which serves delicious food.
Our blogger friends couldn't have chosen a better place to relax and the scenery is sure to inspire creativity in all of us! To plan your own chilled-out break, take a look at our other cottages near Loweswater, or search the rest of the Lake District with our cottage search.
