Lake District Pounds

If you're spending time in the Lake District at one of our holiday cottages and would like to support local businesses and gain yourself some quirky souvenirs, don't forget to pick up some Lake District Pounds!

Lake District Pounds are the region's own local currency. Coming in £1, £5, £10 and £20 notes, they are worth the same as Sterling and are redeemable at unique, local, independent businesses, so you know that you're supporting our community while you spend!

Lake District PoundsThere's no exchange rate so swapping your cash for Lake District Pounds is completely free! There are also new designs every year, so Lake District lovers can start their own collections.

Money raised from the scheme goes directly to local projects that care for communities and preserve the beautiful and special landscape of the World Heritage site.

You can also get a LD£ Passport with your notes and follow the Passport Trail, collecting unique stamps whenever you spend Lake District Pounds. There are seven sets of five stamps to collect and with every complete set you also win a prize!
