Sitting high on a hill above Bowness-on-Windemere is the Henrock, a top-notch restaurant that offers an 'informally elegant' dining experience in the grounds of spectacular Linthwaite House.
This week the restaurant launched an exciting outdoor dining experience where you can enjoy the excellent food on the Spring Terrace for a limited amount of time. The Spring Terrace Pop-Up
Open for just 5 weeks from the 14th of April 2021, the Spring Terrace Pop-Up will be serving up tasty treats for lunch and dinner, Wednesday to Sunday. The food is really something to make your mouth water too. The restaurant, set up by Michelin starred chef Simon Rogan, promises a delectable offering inspired by the chef's travels around the world. Just some of the offerings include BBQ Korean Pork, Rum Baba, Aged Dexter Beef Shortrib and Miso Cured Cod Loin. And the restaurant believes in using local produce as far as possible, as well as aiming for zero-waste.
There's also plenty to choose from at the bar, too! A specially curated selection of drinks is available, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, a huge selection of wines, beers, gins, whisky... you name it, they have it. Just make sure you book a taxi home!
Nothing beats sitting out and admiring the Lake District scenery bursting into colour in spring and, with longer evenings and warmer days, al fresco dining is an absolute delight. Even if there's a bit of a nip in the air, or rain threatening, the Henrock has you covered with a marquee, heaters and even cosy blankets to snuggle under. They really have thought of everything!
About Simon Rogan
Simon Rogan is an award-winning chef with several high-end restaurants across the world, starting in the beautiful village of Cartmel in the South Lakes. L’Enclume was his first restaurant, opened in the village in 2008 and followed a few years later by Rogan & Co. Henrock was opened in 2019 after others in London and even as far away as Hong Kong!
With a passion for food, Simon had always wanted to run his own restaurant, but he was - and is - also dedicated to understanding the ingredients in detail, to where they come from, how they're grown, and when they're in season. Initially working with a local farm to supply most of their produce, they eventually took over the land, renaming it 'Our Farm' and working closely together as chefs and growers to create what they call 'a truly traceable dining experience'.
L'Enclume is currently the only Cumbrian restaurant with two Michelin stars, and Rogan & Co also has a Michelin star. Simon is also the only chef in the world to hold a Michelin Green Star in two continents, in testament to his work towards sustainability. With all these accolades and more, you can be sure of an amazing meal at any of his restaurants!
