We have recently taken on a large detached house in Keswick called Hazelwood, which can sleep up to 18 people.
Over the last couple of months, we’ve been doing quite a bit of work on the house to get it ready for the first visitors, who are coming to stay at the house today.
The whole place is looking absolutely stunning and the weather forecast is good for the weekend too, so fingers crossed that they enjoy their stay.
Hazelwood is in a great location on the edge of Keswick - You can hike out into Borrowdale or St John’s in the Vale straight from the house and you can also wander down into Keswick town, with it’s many pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes.
The house has a beautiful gas AGA and we have also added an electric hob in the kitchen for extra convenience. The kitchen is well equipped, with everything that you should need to prepare a sumptuous banquet.
We’ve had a huge bespoke beech Dining Table made by an excellent local, Keswick cabinet maker. It’s absolutely stunning and I’m sure that over the years, the dining room is going to be the venue for lots of family celebrations and group get-togethers.
As well as all getting together for meals around one massive table, there is also a conservatory attached to the kitchen, which has lots of sofa seating, so the whole of your party can sit and enjoy a drink and offer encouragement to whoever is slaving away in the kitchen.
There are two sitting rooms and both have been brand newly refurnished: the front sitting room has a classic woodburning stove, which helps create a great atmosphere.
The house has 9 bedrooms - 5 double rooms and 4 twins - and then there are 7 bathrooms as well.
The front garden has spectacular views out over Keswick to Derwent Water and across to Grizedale Pike, Grasmoor and Skiddaw. There is an enclosed garden to the rear of the property and we can accept up to three pets by prior arrangement.
There is parking for seven or eight cars at the house too.
Keswick is the adventure capital of England and there is absolutely loads to do. As well as hiking on the high fells, there are lots of easier lower level walks and there are lots of activity providers based in the area, so you can easily organize to be guided on a days rock climbing or ghyll scrambling or you could have a taster day at paragliding or even give dragon boating a whirl - check out our review of activities in the Lake District.
There are loads of events held in Keswick through the year as well, so whether it’s the Keswick Convention, the Keswick Mountain Festival , the Literary Festival - Words by the Water or The Keswick Jazz festival, there is always something on to suit all tastes.
As it’s the first year of bookings at the house, it has been priced very competitively to try to get things off to a flying start. If you have any questions about the house or if you would like any details about prices and availability, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We’ve got some brilliant deals on midweek short breaks – please enquire for details.
We also have lots of other Lake District Cottages throughout the Lake District, so just give us a call or drop us an email if you are thinking of coming to stay in the area.
