Starting from the 25th of October 2019, there will be a series of fun and freaky events at the castle including The Muncaster Monster Cabaret, Potion Making in the Scary Dairy and Tales from the Graveyard. Spooky stories by the fire at Wordsworth House
Step back to a time when Halloween was less about fancy dress and trick-or-treating and more to do with atmosphere and scary stories! Head to Cockermouth and Wordsworth House, where William Wordsworth was born, and gather around the kitchen fire as the maids tell the same spooky stories that the famous poet might have heard in his youth! Stories will be told on the 25th and the 31st of October 2019 at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Spooky Fancy Dress and Crafts at The World of Beatrix Potter
The much-loved author isn't usually linked with scary stories (unless you count Peter Rabbit being chased through Mr McGregor's garden!), but you can still join in with the Halloween fun at The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere. Kids go free to the popular attraction on the 27th of October - as long as they have on fancy dress! So pull out the witch's cloak, the Frankenstein bolts and the vampire fangs and head on over to find out all about Beatrix, her life, and her books.

The Ghosts of Lowther at Lowther Castle
The imposing empty shell of Lowther Castle can be spooky even in the middle of the brightest summer day, but when the sun goes down around Halloween, spectral beings rule the grounds! On Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of October 2019, you had best beware, with the likes of The Headless Gardener, The Axeman and The Knocker prowling the extensive gardens. Scheduled evening ghost walks will be sure to give you a fright, or you can simply enjoy live music throughout the evening, meet the owls, try your hand at lantern making, or enjoy some tasty street food.
