Getting to know Keswick

Published:

Keswick is famous amongst the outdoor world. It is widely acknowledged as the Adventure Capital of the UK and visitors flock to our Keswick holiday cottages to take advantage of all the exciting activities and fantastic walks on offer. There is walking, climbing, cycling, swimming, ghyll scrambling, ice climbing and so much more!

Derwentwater, Keswick
In addition to the great outdoor activities Keswick also has a growing café bar culture. There are some fantastic little cafes offering something a little different to the traditional pubs and tearooms. Our favourites in the office include the Square Orange for pizza and tapas and the lush cakes and inventive menu at Merienda. Keswick has a lovely atmosphere in the evening with live music in several locations and a folk strolling through the cobbled market square.

We have some great dog friendly Keswick cottages that are handily situated for exploring the very best Keswick has to offer. Keswick was voted most dog friendly town in 2014 by the Kennel Club thanks to the wide variety of welcoming pubs, shops and fantastic mountains for them to run around on.

The town is surrounded by mountains giving the town something of an alpine feel. Big old Skiddaw towers above the town to the north whilst smaller family friendly fells like Walla Crag and Catbells provide a scenic view over Derwentwater.

Ashness Bridge, Keswick
Keswick is a warm friendly town with plenty to do and see whether you like to get outdoors or stroll round and see the sights and check out the museum, shops and galleries. You can even call into our Sally’s Cottages office in Keswick and have a chat with us. We love to talk about all things Lake District!
