A healthy holiday doesn't have to be all about boot camps and aching muscles. It can be a time for rejuvenating and revitalising ourselves in beautiful surroundings and clean, fresh air. Here we have rounded up the best places to go for a health boosting break in the Lake District.
Whinlatter Forest Park is England's only true mountain forest and is a fantastic place for walking, cycling and enjoying the local wildlife. Winter is one of the best months to visit and make your way along the forest trails onto Whinlatter. On a crisp, clear day it's wonderful to walk along its ridges and enjoy the views. The Whinlatter Forest is next to our Cottages in Bassenthwaite.
Scafell Pike is one of the Lakes most iconic mountains and England's highest mountain - climbing its ridges and reaching its peak is the perfect way to feel invigorated. One of our favourite routes to the summit starts from Wasdale Head but there are also treks from Borrowdale, Eskdale and Langdale. Click here for our Wasdale Cottages.
If you've dreamed of galloping across open fields then you'll love horseriding in the Lake District. Rookin House offers treks through the Lake District National Park so you can admire all the scenery on horse back. Click here for our cottages near to the riding centre in Ullswater.
Great Gable is one of the most majestic mountains and a real Lake District highlight. You can reach Great Gable's summit starting from Honsister Pass. This is a quieter route and offers inspiring views and a rewarding walk. You'll walk for 7.3 miles and climb to 2400 feet. Start this walk from our Cotttages in Borrowdale.
