National Trust Egg Hunts, across the Lakes, 14th - 17th April 2017
National Trust sites across the Lake District will be running Cadbury Egg Hunts over the Easter weekend, so why not join in the fun? Places taking part include Hill Top, Sizergh Castle, Fellfoot Park, Claife Viewing Station, Allan Bank, Sticklebarn, Wray Castle, Townend, Wordsworth House, Acorn Bank and Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water. You'll also find egg hunts around Buttermere, Ennerdale, the Whitehaven Coast, and Keswick and Derwentwater. Take a look online for dates and further details of each event (some trails run for one day only).
Sally’s Cottages is this year taking part in the ‘Where is Peter Rabbit?’ Easter Egg Hunt with The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere. Sign up for this treasure hunt on the 12th April and see if you can find our own unique ceramic egg!

Easter at Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass, 14th - 17th April 2017
Muncaster Castle is offering free entry over the Easter weekend for every child with a teddy and an accompanying full entry-paying adult! There's lots of fun on offer including children's crafts and activities, bouncy castles, and the Muncaster Giant Easter Egg Hunt at 12.30pm on Easter Sunday and Monday!

Teddies go free on Ullswater Steamers and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, 8th - 23rd April 2017
The popular annual #teddyfest event is back for 2017, which means that this Easter kids travel for free on Ullswater Steamers if they take along their favourite teddy bear for the adventure (ages 5-15, when accompanied by a full fare-paying adult). Children with teddies also travel free on Ride All Day fares on board the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway when accompanied by a full fare-paying adult.
Ullswater Daff Fest, 8th - 30th April
Ullswater is where William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy famously walked amongst the daffodils that inspired his most famous poem, 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud'. As part of the valley's celebration of the daffodil season, there'll be guided walks, a daffodil trail (with prizes en route), and children's activities at Rheged.

Children's workshops and activities at Rheged, near Penrith
Rheged always have family-friendly activities to look forward to during the holidays, and this Easter is no exception. Activities range from making a clay hedgehog, a mini bug hotel, or a sword to creating an Easter pom pom animal, Easter chicks, wind chimes, and paper folded sculptures. Other workshops include decorating a mini birdhouse, nature animation for beginners, and skills in bushcraft. There's also a great film programme on, especially useful if the weather's not so good outside!
Knit and Stitch Show 2017, Rheged, near Penrith, 8th and 9th April 2017
One for those who love to sew or knit, this show features demonstrations on everything from knitting, spinning, and weaving to block printing! There will also be over 30 exhibitors at the show and crafting workshops, too.
Until 23rd April you can also take a look at the centre's most recent exhibition, New Quilting, which explores the traditional handmade craft of quilting through the unique stories of quilts on display by national and Cumbrian makers. 01768 868000, rheged.com

Bowness Bay Blues, Bowness-on-Windermere, 7th - 9th April 2017
Now a well-established music event on the Lake District calendar, Bowness Bay Blues returns for 2017 with a full programme in aid of local charities including Langdale Mountain Rescue. You can book tickets for the whole weekend or a single day, with acts performing across a number of venues in and around Bowness-on-Windermere, and fringe events taking place in the nearby village of Windermere.

Family activities at Brockhole, throughout April
The Herdy sheep have all escaped and Brockhole needs your help to find them before the end of the Easter holidays! This is a fun trail for all the family and there's even a special prize to be won! There are several workshops on for children throughout the holidays, including archery, meet the minibeasts, and storytelling (booking advised), as well as an Easter trail around the grounds from the 14th to the 17th of April.

Biosystem, Grizedale Forest, until 11th June 2017
Biosystem is a walk-through gallery exhibition by Irish artist Méadhbh O’Connor. Featuring a constellation of 'living orbs', and commissioned by the Forestry Commission, it runs until 11th June.

Taste Cumbria festival, Kirkby Lonsdale, 14th - 16th April 2017
Taste Cumbria events are now an established part of the Lake District calendar and, new for 2017, Taste Cumbria comes to Kirkby Lonsdale! There'll be lots of local producers exhibiting over the three-day event and chef demonstrations to inspire you in the kitchen at home!

Drama with Wordsworth at the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, 31st March - 22nd April
This spring sees the world premier of William Wordsworth take place at the Theatre by the Lake. Written by Nicholas Pierpan and directed by Michael Oakley, this theatre production explores the man behind the poetry and how some of his best work came to be created.

Keswick Ghost Walks, various dates
If you find yourself intrigued by stories of ghosts, myths, and local legend, check out the Lakeland Hauntings programme of guided walks around the historic market town of Keswick. You'll follow 'The Lady', a professional actress and storyteller, who carefully researches tales of the area with an adult audience in mind, although stories are described as 'broadly accessible' to children aged 10 years and up.

Holker specialist plant fair and food market, Cark-in-Cartmel, 16th April 2017
If you're a keen gardener, this specialist plant event may just be the thing for you! It brings together some of the top Northern nurseries and growers who sell a wide variety of unusual plants. Alongside the plant fair, Holker will be holding its regular Holker Food Market, a chance to meet local and regional producers and discover some delicious new food and drink ideas. Holker is also hosting a number of craft and outdoor activities for all the family between 13th and 16th April.
