Dogs on Tops!

Published:

The fantastic Keswick pet shop, Podgy Paws is running a competition until 30th September, which all keen walkers and their dogs can enter.

Just supply a photo of your dog on a mountain top listed in any of the seven Wainwright guide books and you will be entered into a free draw to win prizes from the Ruffwear collection of great outdoor gear for dogs on the go!

The rules are very simple:

Take your dog to the top of a mountain.
Take a photo with a sufficient view in the background to prove you were there.
Walk back down again and send the photo to Podgy Paws.

Easy!

You do not need to be staying in Keswick to take part and there are hundreds of Wainwright fells to choose from, 214 in fact! Here at Sally's Cottages we are all dog lovers, with 3 Collies and a Jack Russell between us. We also have over 100 dog friendly self catering cottages of all sizes so there is plenty for you to chose from when planning a walking holiday with your dog.

For inspiration here are two photos of my dog Rosie on top of Great Gable, one of her favourites and Rannerdale Knotts. Her main criteria for a good mountain top is one where she can play with her tennis ball and not fall off the edge!

Great Gable can be walked from our cottages in Borrowdale or Wasdale and the views are beyond compare.

Rannerdale Knotts overlooks Crummock Water and is a lovely family walk. One of our cottages is lucky enough to have this fell virtually in their back garden! Is is easily accessed from Lorton and Cockermouth and the valley below is filled with beautiful bluebells in spring.
