Riverside Retreat, Ambleside
Sat by the river on the outskirts of Ambleside, Riverside Retreat is a beautiful self-catering cottage with a delightful reading nook on the cottage. After you've spent the day exploring the South Lakes, you can head back, select a book from the bookshelf, and settle down for a good long read!

Halecat House, Witherslack
This elegant Georgian house is delightful for so many reasons including its pretty summerhouse, large gardens, spacious rooms, and lovely views. But if you’re a book lover, you’ll be immediately drawn to the library tucked away under the grand staircase. You’ll be hardly in the door before you get down to some serious reading!

Irt Valley View, Holmrook
With bright rooms, tall ceilings and gorgeous surroundings, Irt Valely View in Holmrook is an all-round comfortable place to stay. This gorgeous apartment is set in the 18th century Orton Hall. Panelled walls and wonderful gardens all add to the stateliness, and the window nook is the perfect place to watch the birds flitting past in between page turns. Alternatively, you could head down into the communal drawing room and sink into one of the comfy chairs there!
