Who doesn’t like a good family sing song when they going on holiday? Our facebook fans certainly do and they have told us all about the songs they like to sing in the car on the way to their self catering Lake District cottage.
We have some lovely cottages for the musically minded whether you are visiting as a couple or as part of a large group.
Hygebby Lodge is in an elevated position near Ullswater. There is an acoustic guitar in the lodge and the east-facing veranda is just perfect for sitting out and strumming away into the sunset.
Far Moor End has a rather fine balcony above the main sitting room. It boasts a sofa, table and chairs, a guitar and an electric piano/keyboard. So everyone can join in and serenade the guests below! The property is barn and famrhouse conversion in acres of private grounds in Ennerdale.
In Santon Bridge, between Esdale and Gosforth is the impossibly pretty cottage called Force Bank. There is a piano here; just make sure you ask for the key on booking. Last time I was in Santon, I wandered past the cottage and heard someone tinkling away. Beautiful.
The Stables at Dean is a traditional cottage with a beautiful stand up piano and candle sconces for an atmospheric evening of music.
Chapel House Mews in Bassenthwaite is perfect for a romantic break. There is a traditional sitting room with a piano and a bedroom with antique furniture. Oh and there are hens in the garden too. How lovely.
Finally, we have Ellwood in Bridekirk near Cockermouth. This grand barn conversion has a games room in a separate building to the main house with a snooker table, bar and piano. This looks like one for the boys if you ask me!
