Borrowdale is one of the most stunning valleys in the Lake District, full of heritage and culture. I recently visited some of our holiday cottages in the pretty village of Grange and was reminded of just how glorious this area is. Grange has an impressive twin arched bridge over the river and gorgeous scenery all around.
Tan Cottage is perfect for old friends or couples seeking a comfortable base for exploring the valley. The cottage is all on one level and features picture windows overlooking the magnificent Borrowdale Fells.
Our new cottage, Greystones, has a fantastic location in Grange and is next to a fantastic cafe serving homemade cakes! You can take in breath taking views over Borrowdale from the windows and enjoy hundreds of walks right from the front door of the cottage.
Crag Lea is a family sized property and is just past Holy Trinity church, the second church in the village. There are three bedrooms, a cosy sitting room and superb views from every window. Castle Crag is framed by the sitting room window and dominates the view across the meadow from the rear of the property.
Grange offers some of the most memorable walking in the area, whether you are looking for an all day challenging hike, or a gentle stroll through the valley. To give you some idea of the choice, the river Derwent winds through the valley from its source at Styhead Tarn beneath Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in the Lake District all the way to Derwentwater, passing by Castle Crag, one of the smallest mini mountains in the Lake District.
