Beat the credit crunch - holiday in the UK!

Published:

Gordon Brown and David Cameron aren’t the only ones who chose to take their holidays in the UK this year. The credit crunch, falling exchange rates, airport queues and worries about carbon footprints mean that more and more people are deciding to visit British tourist destinations instead of going abroad.

The Lake District is one of the UK’s top holiday spots. But not many people visit its quieter, western side. Welcome to our new website which will allow you to explore the Lake District for yourselves.

I love talking to visitors about the quieter, more undiscovered parts of the Lake District, like the Eskdale Valley, where I was born. I think there’s so much to be found away from the major tourist attractions, which can get very busy at certain times of the year. It’s perfect for couples who want to get away from it all, groups of friends or families, walkers, cyclists or even beer enthusiasts looking for real ales.

I hope you find the new website helpful. You can book online if you like, or if you’d prefer to talk to someone directly we keep our phone with us wherever we go. We’re open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, so we don’t get many holidays ourselves…
