The 145th Annual Show takes place in Eskdale on 28th September. The show is held on the field near the King George IV.
There is an opportunity to have homemade produce judged by the ladies of Eskdale in sections including Preserves, Bread and Pastries or Cakes & Biscuits, costing just 25 pence per entry!
You can also enter handicrafts and knitting if the mood takes you. Trophies and a prize of £5 are awarded to the winners in each category.
Aside from handicrafts and baking, Eskdale is THE premier Show for Herdwick breeds in the country. Tensions often run high once judging commences but the onsite beer tent helps to smooth things over for the losers!
The show is well attended by locals and visitors to the valley, with plenty of Lake District cottages in Eskdale, the show is a popular draw for guests of our self catering cottages.
Links to the past are maintained with displays of old farm machinery and engines, wrought iron working and wood turning. The committee are working hard to create an archive of the show and will be displaying photos of years gone by including photos by Maurice Steele:
