Blengside is a charming cosy cottage that has been lovingly refurbished by the owners. It retains many characterful features whilst having the advantage of modern fixtures and fittings ensuring a comfortable stay.
Blengside takes its name from the River Bleng that runs through the cottage garden. The river winds its way through the hamlet of Wellington to join with the Irt and continue all the way to the sea. Blengside Cottage is perfectly situated between the Lakeland hills and the sea making it the ideal base for exploring the Western Lake District. The cottage is available for weekend breaks all year round.
The wild beautiful valley of Wasdale is a ten minute drive away. This remote valley is very quiet even in summer. You can scale the lofty heights of Scafell Pike, paddle on Wastwater, or visit tiny St Olaf's church at Wasdale Head.
Eskdale is also close by - it is a delight for walkers offering routes for all abilities either on the fells or along the delightful river Esk. The ‘Ratty’ miniature railway runs through the valley all the way to the coast offering a pleasantly sedate way of enjoying the scenery.
You can enjoy the best of both worlds with hills close at hand and the sea less than two miles from Blengside Cottage. There is a golf course on the coast and flat bowls. Nearby Gosforth has a well stocked mini market and a legendary pie shop - arrive early before they all sell out! There are several good pubs in Gosforth all of which serve meals.
