Great place next to the pub, CH oil boiler smells but once you open veluxe windows its ok. Set midway between Keswick and Penrith, Great views all round.

Hi Barry, thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, it's a lovely place for a relaxing break isn't it?
Thanks for letting me know about the boiler, I'll make sure we get that checked out.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

The cottage was functional and with a good location. When we arrived the kitchen was not clean, so we had to do some cleaning upon arrival, which wasn’t great considering that we could not check in until 5. We wanted to eat in the pub next door but they couldn’t accommodate 8 people even though we did suggest to have two tables of 4, some flexibility would have been helpful or at least warning prior to arrival. The cottages are damp and there are no recycling facilities, we did take recycling in the car with us on a few occasions but again it would be helpful to have somewhere to recycle. A nice touch of providing some basics on arrival would have been also welcoming and it would not cost a great deal. It just felt very unwelcoming and the fact that owners of the cottages are next door it would be nice to welcome the guests and show them around. Overall the location was nice, facilities very average and hospitality poor

We booked at a time when the majority of properties were already booked so finding a dog friendly cottage in the northern Lakes was a challenge. We looked at some of the other reviews and feel some were not very fair. The cottage was very clean on arrival with clean bedding, towels etc. We were glad to be away from the big towns and location wise if you are a walker, runner, cyclist etc you are in great territory with Blencathra on one side and Great Mell Fell even closer.
Aira Force waterfall is 5 mins drive and we took the kids and dog to Ullswater to hire a boat and go paddle boarding. Penrith only 10 mins away for food shopping. The owners were friendly and we had a takeaway from the Troutbeck Inn on one evening. Plenty of hot water and good showers. Overall we had a good stay despite weather being a bit wet on a couple of days !
