General Description

Bisoi is a stunning Lakeland holiday cottage for up to eight in the popular village of Braithwaite just outside Keswick. The original 1950s house has been extended, redesigned and refurbished to the very highest standard offering a holiday home you'll be reluctant to leave. Boasting breathtaking mountain views, several beautifully appointed living areas, indulgent bedrooms, high spec bathrooms and glorious outdoor space, it really is the most delightful place to spend a Lake District break. The owners have employed a practised eye for interior decor; a subtle palette of colours, modern design touches, well-chosen art, and truly indulgent furnishings to create a warm and welcoming space to envelop you and your family.

Some thoughtful extras that set Bisoi apart include fragrant Bath House toiletries, Smart lighting, memory foam mattresses and an integrated Sonos sound system throughout, so don't forget to download the Sonos App before you arrive and you can be using your playlists throughout the social spaces of the house!

On arrival at the property, guests first enter the impressive double-height entrance hall. There is a spacious alcove with plenty of room for coats and muddy boots. To the left of the hallway is the snug/gaming room. Perfect for kids and teens, this gorgeous room has a deep sofa, footstools and a snuggle chair arranged around a large Smart TV with Playstation 4 and games, plus more traditional board games. There are French doors leading onto a raised deck with views over the terraced garden and mountains and a built-in gas flame fire to use on chilly evenings.

Beyond this lies the wonderful ground floor suite. Ideal for those with limited mobility, this is a simply stunning room for any guest who wishes to be cocooned in luxury. There's a super king size bed with upholstered bedstead, a chest of drawers and a stylish brass hanging rail for clothes storage. Being at the back of the house, this room's large window looks out onto the sloping garden, making it the perfect place to grab your morning cuppa and head back to bed to watch the comings and goings of the visiting birdlife. This suite also benefits from a modern en suite shower room with a mixer shower in a large (and easily accessible) enclosure. What a treat!

Moving along the main corridor you pass the first of two downstairs WCs before reaching the exquisite main living room, truly a fabulous space for your group to relax. It has three sumptuous sofas arranged around a huge Smart TV with soundbar. You can commandeer this room for the "grown ups" but there is also a further Playstation 4 Pro in here if the "tweens" invade. The two large windows open up the stunning views across the valley to the Skiddaw, Blencathra and Latrigg. As with the rest of the house, tasteful design touches and a serene colour scheme have been employed to make this room welcoming and comfortable.

Head through to the far end of the house where you'll come to the "feel-good" heart of the home. The amazing kitchen-diner is built into a stylish extension and has been equipped with every possible comfort. With glass doors, floor to ceiling windows, a rich blue colour scheme, relaxed dining furniture and an ergonomic kitchen set-up with island unit, it's a wonderfully sociable space to gather your party. It's a veritable foodie's paradise that is wonderfully equipped with five gas hobs, three built-in fan ovens alongside an eye-height microwave combi, a dishwasher and a large Bosch American style fridge freezer with crushed ice drawer. The owners have thought of every possible detail to make your stay easy so, aside from all the crockery and cookware you'll need, there's also a range of kitchen aids such as blenders, juicers and a Nutri Bullet. Coffee lovers among you will love the Nespresso coffee maker with a starter supply of pods and there's even a Grohe sparking water tap! The dining table is surrounded by comfortable, upholstered chairs that create a delightful ambience for long, post-dinner conversations about your Lakeland adventures. There are also French doors leading out to a sheltered decking area, making a convivial extended space that links the house and the outdoors.

If you're bringing work with you, Bisoi has an office with desk and Samsung monitor (not to mention a glorious view that can either distract or inspire you!). Alternatively, this room can be a palatial bedroom for up to two lucky pooches. Lastly, on the ground floor is a large utility room which with a washing machine, tumble dryer, ceiling airer, downstairs WC and bags of space for your outdoor clobber. There is also a handy electric boot warmer (which can accommodate 2 pairs at a time) in the utility room, ideal for drying boots after a day out exploring.

Venturing up the curved staircase to the light, airy landing, guests first come to the bright and beautiful reading room. With a huge picture window framing the most staggering panorama of fells, enveloping seating, vibrant soft furnishings and an inset gas fire, it is a grown-up paradise of peace and comfort.

Onwards to the first floor super king suite. Like its ground floor sibling, this is a luxurious haven with an upholstered super king bedstead and a view to the garden for lazy mornings watching the birds come and go. There's a slimline wardrobe, chest of drawers and large ottoman for storage and, best of all, a handsome en suite bathroom with double ended bath and a mixer shower in a square enclosure.

Next is the light, modern family bathroom where there's a further mixer shower in a square enclosure and a double ended bath for soaking away tired fell walking muscles. Continue along the corridor to the king size bedroom, which has a romantic white metal bedstead with a garden view and an extra large wardrobe with concertina doors. Lastly, to the gorgeous twin room: this spacious gem is an absolute delight with two eye-level skylights looking across the valley to Skiddaw and drenching the room in light. There's a chest of drawers and hanging hooks for clothes storage. Sometimes the twin room can be something of an afterthought in a holiday cottage, but it's not so in this instance. Children and teens will feel they've hit the jackpot with this luxurious haven.

Moving outside the house, guests will find the gardens no less impressive than the interior, with incredible views to inspire your escapades. To the front of the house the raised deck outside the games room leads down to tiered lawns and thoughtfully planted borders with mature trees and shrubs for year-round colour. The hillside garden to the rear is an absolute treat, having been well designed to make the most of the available space and stunning views. Ascend the stone stairs to the substantial deck that has been cut into the hillside; take in the panorama beyond the house with an evening glass of wine from the comfort of a gorgeous outdoor sofa. You can enjoy sunny evening barbecues out here and even stay warm on chilly evenings by lighting the fire pit. Follow the path further up past sloping lawns to take you to the orchard where there's a multitude of trees that yield tons of apples. Feel free to help yourselves if you're lucky enough to be visiting during the season! You may even meet the resident pheasant, Phil, who is quite the character and won't mind sharing his domain with you!
