Lovely big cottage and ideal for 5 single ladies with all the bedrooms having ensuite. Track from the road to the cottage could do with some maintenance , grass down the middle or the holes in the track not sure which pulled off my rubber bumper protection on the car, you need a 4 x 4 . Not much in the immediate area but Cockermouth not far for visiting. Also had lovely days out in Keswick, Kendal and Whitehaven. Main areas clean but front porch and certain areas around the property could do with a good clean ! Saying that we all had a lovely relaxing break , apart from the car mishap.

Hi Pam, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you all enjoyed your break, it's a lovely place to get away from it all isn't it? I'm glad you enjoyed getting out exploring and visiting some beautiful parts of the Lakes.
I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement, thank you. I'll make sure everything you've highlighted is looked into.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

The Birkbank property was excellent and surpassed our expectations. The property was clean and had plenty of facilities for our family get-together. We would have no hesitation to recommend to others - fantastic stay there, thanks very much indeed. (We would hope to use the property again for a family get together early next year).

A comfortable house in a peaceful location, but not very far from the attractive areas of the Northern Lakes. Although it’s in a very rural location and down a farm track it’s only about 10 minutes drive from Cockermouth. We visited Buttermere, Derwent Water, Loweswater, and Keswick none of which were far away. The bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms and are quite spacious, and there are good seating areas downstairs and a good sized dining table.
On the negative side there was no welcome pack with instructions about the house. The bins at the house were completely full and clearly hadn’t been emptied for some time. The kitchen equipment was missing some basic items. For example there was no whisk, no jugs for water or milk, no equipment for making coffee, no kitchen scales, and all the kitchen knives were blunt and it wasn’t possible to sharpen them. This was disappointing as we were cooking meals for a large group and the property sleeps 10. I’m sure these issues with the kitchen equipment could be easily rectified. Otherwise we had a great stay at this house.
