Bell Crags was the perfect holiday home if you wanted peace and tranquility; we did.
The cottage was warm and well equipped, in a perfect location for walking. The lack of car parking was not a problem with only a minutes walk to the National Trust car park, you could also get a bus from here. The garden across the pathway from the enclosed yard was a peaceful place to start the day listening to the variety of birdlife and the stream. If there is a negative it was to much clutter in the kitchen cupboards and the oven which seemed to take forever to heat up, minor details really, we had a lovely long awaited break. Thank you owners

This cottage is a cracking little cottage. It is in an amazing location and had a fab garden. The heating and quality of the bedding was amazing. The WiFi also worked which was good as I didn’t have phone signal. it was a little bit of a faff putting a ticket on car each morning but we were always up early to walk the dog and are National trust members so it was free. There are a few things that lets this cottage down however. The kitchen is tiny and the oven /grill didn’t seem to work properly so we used the hobs to cook all food. Also not only is the bathroom dated with an old broken blind but the shower is awful as just feels like someone is stood there with a watering can. The double bed whilst very comfy could also do with a mattress topper as it was very springy. Therefore for the amount we paid I felt a little let down mainly by the kitchen and bathroom. Mainly the bathroom because after walking 10 miles a day, there is nothing better than a nice powerful shower. A little thing like a welcome pack would also be a nice touch. It’s a shame as this is a cracking little cottage with so much potential. The location alone is stunning. There are no local amenities apart from the farm opposite doing cooked breakfasts at weekend and stone baked pizzas however the farm are stopping food from 20th September which I presume is just over winter
