Holme is handily located for exploring South Cumbria. It is easily accessed from the M6 whilst maintaining a tranquil setting close to the Lancaster Canal. Holme looks to the distinctive limestone crags on the edge of the Lune valley and close to the Yorkshire Dales. To the west, the Arndale and Silverdale AONB is within a ten minute drive making Beckside perfect choice for nature lovers.
The nearest pub is The Smithy, a traditional pub serving good food and local ales. The pub has an excellent reputation and serves takeaway fish and chips during opening hours. The 555 bus service stops in the vilage, connecting Holme with the Lake District on the journey between Lancaster and Keswick.
The southern reaches of the Lake District are within a 30 minute drive, including the beautiful and rarely visited Lyth valley. The railway station at Arnside is part of the scenic west coast line, travelling all the way to Maryport.
