Barrony Cottage is a lovely light, airy and very comfortable cottage. Everything is well thought out and the equipment supplied is superb.
The village and residents are charming and the area quiet and unspoilt.
Fabulous walking from the door and the quiet lanes made us wish we had taken our bikes.
A very relaxing and recharging break.

If you want to stay in a quiet tranquil uncrowded area of the northern Lake District then Barrony Cottage in Uldale is ideal. But if you want the hustle and bustle of the central Lakes and all the amenities then its only a short drive away. There are lots of walks in the countryside around Uldale which has more gently rolling hills but higher fells are not far if you want more of a challenge. It's also not to far from the coast with wide stretches of beach and coastal paths. The area is also ideal for cyclists as the roads are generally very much quieter. The cottage has been nicely refurbished with a lovely spacious kitchen diner, cosy living room and large double bedroom and twin room. The only room that is compact is the bathroom. Although it has a wide double shower, this compromises the rest of the space. The only thing lacking for us was a more private garden area to sit in as the only outside space was a small narrow area to the front of the cottage on the village road where a herd of dairy cattle pass by four times a day. We enjoyed our stay in this area for it being peaceful and away from it all.
