Barn Garth holiday cottage offers self catering accommodation in Eskdale. This is a lovely place to stay in a fantastic setting.
Here, three lodges share an orchard with a small cottage, all facing south to catch the best of the sun rays. Here, the pace of life is gentle. There is a feeling of being at one with nature, with sheep in the fields, buzzards in the sky and herons on the stream which runs through the orchard.
There is a pond with rafts where children (or adults!) can play, a games room with table tennis and pool, and the miniature steam railway is just a couple of fields away. If you’re bringing a dog, there are hundreds of walks right from the front door – either up the fells to Blea Tarn and Scafell beyond or along the valley floor following the River Esk through the woods towards St Catherine’s Church.
Eskdale is also home to five family-friendly pubs, all of which serve food and ale. The King George IV is the nearest and is a 10 minute walk away. A holiday here has a very real feeling, of peace, of tranquillity and a return to our roots.
Please note that the electricity at the property is on £1 coin-op meter at 9p per unit.
