Aster Cottage, built in the 18th century, has one double bedroom, which sleeps up to two people (and one dog). Its bijou and homely feel is created by its country decor and would suit a single person or a couple looking for a quiet retreat in the idyllic village of Kirkoswald. Kirkoswald is set in the peaceful countryside in the heart of the Eden Valley, only a short distance from Penrith, Ullswater and the Lake District.
Upon entering the cottage, there is a bijou kitchen with a window looking towards Raven Beck. In the kitchen are included an electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, under the counter fridge with a freezer compartment and a washing machine. The kitchen also includes an electric wine cooler and crockery and cutlery for four people.
From the kitchen, you will walk into the cosy living room, complete with wood burning stove, an oak table and chairs, plump two-seater sofa and one armchair. There is also a 26" Smart TV and a DVD player, so you can spend the night watching your favourite TV shows and DVDs if you wish to bring any. The house also has WiFi throughout. A stable door provides access to the small paved seating area at the front of the house.
Going up the stairs to the first floor, there is a small bathroom containing WC, walk-in shower, heated towel rail and basin. The bathroom also contains four baskets for you to put your belongings in.
To reduce single-use plastic usage, we no longer provide complimentary toiletries in the bathrooms. Instead we provide The Bath House hand wash and hand cream that we can refill.
The next room is the bedroom, which overlooks Raven Beck. It features a double bed with a set of bedside cabinets, three storage baskets and a roomy single wardrobe with louvre doors. The stairway & bedroom have carpets - the rest is tiled or vinyl flooring.
At the front of the house, there is a paved seating area for two people with table and two chairs. 20 meters away is Raven Beck. Here, there is a bench where you can sit next to the water; the beck runs through Kirkoswald and provides the perfect route for dog walkers to take; it also provides a beautifully scenic route for anyone to use on parish land.
