- We had a lovely holiday at Ashley house but there were a few issues around the property. We understand there is an issue with the collection of recycling but there were bottles and plastic just left in a pile on the floor so when it got windy was blown all over the garden. We also found quite a bit of dust and dog hair both upstairs and downstairs. Also the shower drains need a bit of attention. There was also a few loose slats on the single beds. All that said, the cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. The shortbread on arrival was a lovely touch. The location was very pretty and the local pub very friendly. The pub in the neighbouring village did great food. The lakes, fells and town of Keswick were all in easy reach and the views of skiddaw were spectacular. This was our first visit to the lake district but certainly won't be our last, and we would definitely book through sallys cottages again.
