Timothy, Thank you for your review. It's a real home from home isn't it? I'm thrilled you had a lovely peaceful holiday and had the opportunity to meet the very friendly owner. I hope you will return to the Lakes for your next holiday very soon.

A perfect location and very nice barn, tastefully fitted out with real wooden floors and comfortable furnishings. Every need had been anticipated and the books about The Lake District fells were plentiful and excellent. Welcoming us with a glass of Prosecco and seeing us off when we left were lovely touches by the friendly landlord Dorothy. The view of, and fell walking around, Blencathra; the Castlerigg stone circle with amazing 360 view; the lost Roman Road at Berrier; the nature reserve at Eycott Hill; the remnant bridges and cuttings of the former Penryt-Keswick railway; and the Mining Museum at Threlkeld are all unforgettable experiences within a few miles. Of course Ullswater and Derwent water and bigger tourist attractions are also within easy driving distance - there is something for everyone here.

We had a lovely visit, despite the ran! Our children enjoyed watching the cows each morning and loved the responsibility of opening and closing the farm gates. The barn was fantastic. Very comfortable and well equipped.
