Aiverthwaite is a stunningly situated and welcoming cottage for up to eight people. Spacious and beautifully appointed, it ticks all the boxes for a family or small group to make the most of this tranquil area of the northern Lake District. The owners, who live on site, have created a very special home where every possible detail has been thought through to make your stay comfortable. Using a practised eye for interior decor, local art, charming antiques and high spec appliances they will welcome you to a cottage you're sure to want to visit time and time again.
Guests arrive to the rear of the property where they enter into a spacious hallway with a pew and plenty of coat and boot space for your outdoor bits and bobs. There's a handy downstairs WC and a large utility room with Belfast sink, washing machine, a ceiling airer and bags of storage space including for bikes should you require.
From the rear hallway you enter the gorgeous shaker-style kitchen. Bright, generously proportioned and well equipped, it's a paradise for foodies with far more equipment than your standard holiday cottage and a lovely sociable feel about it too. There's a large electric range cooker with six ceramic hobs, two ovens and grill, a microwave, dishwasher and a fridge freezer with ample capacity for a party of eight. Added to this, there's a wall-mounted TV, CD player and a breakfast table where you'll find some delicious welcoming goodies on your arrival. With a substantial pantry and all the crockery and cookware you'll need for your stay it has truly been thought through to make the food preparation side of your stay an absolute breeze.
Moving through from the kitchen you'll reach the elegant living and dining room. The formal dining area has a beautiful oval dining table, perfect for long post dinner chats. The living space boasts two large comfortable sofas and a leather armchair arranged around a fireplace with wood burning stove and a large TV with Freeview and DVD player. The owners have provided a choice of books and games for entertainment but more importantly created a convivial space where you'll love spending your evenings discussing your Lakeland adventures. Beyond here lies the stunning sunroom, with comfortable seating and panoramic windows its elevated position offers far-reaching views from the local rolling fells out over the Solway Firth as far as Criffel in southern Scotland! It's a wonderfully relaxing place to enjoy a morning cuppa, an evening glass of wine, a starry night or just to inspire your outdoor escapades.
Through to the heart of the house now and the generous hallway with its charming antiques, from here you ascend the corner staircase to the wide mezzanine landing. For those who'd like a moment's privacy there's an exquisite chaise and a range of interesting coffee table books for you to relax and enjoy the elevated views listening to the ticking of the handsome grandfather clock below. The elegant family shower room is on the first floor, it boasts gorgeous feature wallpaper, a spacious enclosure with a mixer shower with large drencher head. Onwards to the indulgent bedrooms, firstly to the en-suite master bedroom. It's light and bright with a king-size bed, dressing room, dressing table and a charming window seat looking out onto the garden at the rear. Step up from here into the luxurious en-suite bathroom, it has a double-ended bath with shower attachment and a far reaching view out onto Caldbeck Common. A perfect place to soak away tired fell-walking muscles. Next to the delightful twin room, it has a fresh colour scheme, a wardrobe and desk as well as a large window overlooking the garden. The romantic en-suite double room has a French feel about it with a white iron bedstead, wardrobe for storage and a view to the garden. Its en-suite has an electric shower, sink and WC. Lastly to the spacious super-king bedroom (this can be made up as a twin should you require, please advise on booking of this is the case). With plenty of space to spread out, it has a wardrobe for storage and two picture windows making it ideal for sitting in bed with a morning cuppa enjoying the view.
The outside of the property is no less well-appointed than the interior. There is ample parking for four cars, outdoor dining furniture, a wood store with storage and drying space, mature trees and shrubs, a large gently sloping lawn for practising your cartwheels and magnificent panoramic views from the front. In all, if you'd like to experience the less busy and bustling side of the Lake District, Aiverthwaite is a welcoming and luxurious cottage which is sure to enchant you.
