Property code: SZ032

This pretty cottage boasts incredible views of the Lake District countryside, perfect for couples or a small family who want an outdoor getaway with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities nearby.

This charming two-bedroom cottage enjoys an enviable elevated position on the edge of the much-loved village of Glenridding. Refurbished throughout, it provides homely accommodation for four people. At the back of the cottage is the well-equipped kitchen, whilst the living/dining room is to the front. With a wood burning stove and stunning views towards the Helvellyn range, it's a fantastic room. Up on the first floor are the two double bedrooms, one spacious and the other more cosy, and the family bathroom. Outside is a delightful garden that slopes down to the cottage's designated parking space.

The mountain scenery is inspiring and the fell walking here is hard to beat; you can even leave the car parked and enjoy a different walk from the door every single day of your holiday! Serious fell walkers will relish the opportunity to tackle mighty Helvellyn straight from the front door. For the adventurous and well prepared, Striding Edge provides an exciting route to the summit. If you don't fancy going right to the top, check out Greenside Mine on the slopes for clues about the area's industrial past. Pack a picnic and spend the day by beautiful Ullswater. Enjoy lakeside strolls, wild swimming or a ride on the majestic Ullswater Steamer.

In fair weather take a scenic drive over Kirkstone Pass, a steep and winding narrow mountain pass with stunning vistas, to bustling Ambleside. Spend a morning looking round the great choice of independent and outdoor shops before treating yourselves to lunch from one of the quirky eateries. Continue south to vibrant Bowness-on-Windermere. From here, you can catch the ferry across to Hawkshead, another charming Lakeland village that's certainly worth a visit. Visit Beatrix Potter's former home of Hill Top, stock up on the famous Hawkshead Relish or indulge your sweet tooth at the ice cream shop.

At the back of the cottage is the country kitchen. Well equipped with everything you'll need for a self-catering holiday, there's an electric oven and hob, fridge and a very useful dishwasher. There's also a great selection of crockery and cookware including a slow cooker for warming winter stews. The breakfast bar with two stools is the perfect spot for a peaceful morning coffee.

The living/dining room is a real treat. At the front of the cottage, this lovely room has magnificent views towards Helvellyn. Enjoy a home-cooked meal around the dining table before moving to relax on the sofas. Positioned around the wood burner, they are ideal for cosy evenings in in front of the fire. There's a TV with Sky Q box for entertainment - if you can tear yourselves away from the views that is!

Upstairs on the first floor are the two bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom contains a double bed and has stunning views over the front of the cottage towards the Helvellyn range. Bring your morning cuppa back to bed and indulge in a lie in while gazing out at the view - you are on holiday after all! The second bedroom is a lovely, cosy double room and has an equally wonderful outlook, this time up Glenridding Dodd at the back of the cottage. Also on the first floor is the family bathroom. As well as the WC and washbasin, there's shower over bath. Enjoy a long soak in the tub or reinvigorate muscles tired from walking under the shower.

As well as parking for one car, at the front of the cottage is a lovely garden. With outdoor furniture and stunning views towards Helvellyn, it's a lovely spot for dining alfresco with a stunning backdrop. Please note that whilst the garden is enclosed, there is a change in levels due to the sloping nature of the ground. Children will therefore need to be supervised here as there are a few steps between the change in levels.

Superb location, awesome views. A bit outdated in the kitchen and bathroom but I would book again. Clean but a few aspects not perfect such as the cutlery tray being unclean, small things but important and the shower being poor. Great walks from the door, local good pub and good shops in a he village. Ill definitely tlreturn.

Location is superb and the house was cosy and warm even before lighting the log burner. Access would be difficult for older less able folk and car parking a little difficult . Adequate facilities and value for money .

Lovely cottage and well equipped. Location is amazing, close to the village but really quiet with incredible views and so many options for walking from the front door.

The magic of the mountains was so apparent in this cozy cottage, we will be returning! Although the road up to the house could be better maintained, the route was safe and easy. The kitchen is dated but functions perfectly. Although the storage heaters were not on on our arrival, the log fire warmed up downstairs quickly and the heaters worked afteRead morer that. The electric shower could have been more forceful but worked well enough and a bath was preferred after walking out. Just lovely, thanks! Hide

A warm well appointed cottage in a stunning location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the log burner was a boon to dry out our almost constantly wet gear!

A traditional cottage on the hillside out of Glenridding, with an amazing, expansive view of Birkhouse Moor. The road there is increasingly uneven, with parking for one car, but at an awkward angle, with a steep and uneven path through the front garden up to the house. This cottage is in a beautiful location with amazing views, despite being a little rough around the edges it is cosy and comfortable perfect for a relaxing, peaceful break. In walking distance of ullwater amenities and stunning lake. On the bus route to explore more of the lake district. Great local walks/hikes. Friendly locals.

An old mining cottage so a bit dated and rough round the edges but with some modern touches, and perfectly adequate and clean. Plenty of towels, bedding provided, but maybe avoid if you have a feather allergy due to feather cushions and pillows. Smaller back bedroom does not have a wardrobe but does have some hooks and hangers and there is plenty oRead moref storage in the front bedroom. Perfect location for exploring the area around Ullswater and Helvellyn. A short, steep, walk from the nearest pub. Hide

Amazing settling and a great home for the week. There were quite a few things we'd improve (and have fed-back to the owner) but we'd still go back regardless.

Great cottage for couple/small family. Location is superb with amazing views out of the front of the property and lots of walking opportunities on the doorstep. The cottage is a little tired and could benefit from an update in the kitchen and bathroom but this does not impact on the comfort or enjoyment of the property. Loved our stay!

A good cottage in great location with great walks from the door. Parking is a bit tight, and we only have a medium car. Cottage was warm and we made good use of the log burner. We would definitely look to return.
