Whether you’re after dreamy days on the lake or hikes high above the water, this characterful cottage is in the perfect spot with something for everyone; family, friends and pups.

Ullswater is widely thought to be one of the most picturesque places in the Lake District and this is the perfect cottage from which to enjoy all that this gorgeous area has to offer. It’s a cosy terraced cottage welcoming four guests and up to two well-behaved pooches. With a lovely patio area outside to soak up the views towards the mighty Helvellyn range and a cosy built-in wood burner inside around which to curl up in the evening, it really does tick a great many boxes for visitors.

Glenridding is a former mining village on the southern shore of Ullswater boasting several places to eat, outdoor shops, fabulous walking from the door and a jetty for the Ullswater Steamers on the doorstep. For the seasoned mountaineer you could scarcely wish for a better base as the classic route up Helvellyn taking in Swirrel Edge and Striding Edge starts from the village. For guests looking for slightly more sedate walking there are countless options including a family friendly stroll to Lanty’s Tarn and the glorious Aira Force.

Alternatively you can make the most of Ullswater itself by hiring a boat or catching one of the beautifully stately steamers operating throughout the year. Why not take a bike ride around the lake and catch the steamer back home? This cottage is absolutely ideally situated to make the most of this fabulous area.

The entrance to the cottage is via a small courtyard. From here you come in to the kitchen-diner. This is a well-equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, clothes airer, microwave, fridge/freezer, under counter oven and halogen hobs. The glorious view up towards Glenridding Dodd from the kitchen window might even make you offer to do the washing up by hand!

Through from here you'll find the living room. This is a lovely warm room with built in wood burner and two comfy sofas where you can relax after some long Lakeland walks. There is a television, with Freesat and Freeview, a DVD player and a selection of games and puzzles to help you while away your evenings or the odd rainy afternoon. In here you'll also find a large cupboard with space to hide away plenty of coats and muddy boots.

The first room you come to upstairs is normally made up as the master room with super-king bed, this can be made up as two singles according to your party's needs – please let us know upon booking if you would like two singles. This room has a TV with Freeview, a wardrobe, desk and drawers. Upstairs there is also a second bedroom with double bed and a modern shower room with a bidet and vanity unit for storage. There is a step down onto the landing from both bedrooms, which might be something to bear in mind for little ones!

Out of the back door you'll find a lovely patio garden with birdfeeders and a bench looking up to the backdrop of the Helvellyn range. What a magnificent place to sit and enjoy an evening glass of wine or a sunny morning cuppa! There's a shared pathway through the other terrace's gardens taking you through to the parking area. In all, it's a perfect cottage to make the most of this lovely area.

The cottage is generally very well equipped, we were 3 adults and 1 dog staying during a week of constant extremely heavy rain, it is a wet region! drying/airing wet coats/clothes presented problems. The house was comfortable for our needs and in a good location. Some nice extra touches for xmas which was welcome.

A lovely cosy cottage in a brilliant location. The enclosed garden was perfect for letting our dogs out when they needed to go. Minutes from the lake shore and perfect for a hike up into the fells (it's right on the route up to striding edge if that's your plan!). Overall a lovely stay.

This cottage meets the needs of couples (with or without animals), we described it as cosy but the bedroom and living area was so comfortable. Walk out of the front door and you are next to everything. The neighbours are also very pleasant.

A great cottage in a fantastic location. One thing to beware of if you have a low ground clearance car like me is that when you enter the green gates into the parking area, the gate stop in the middle of the two gates will rock the underside of your car. Once you are in, you have the pain of driving back over it and listening to the crunch

A lovely cottage which we really enjoyed. However, the only thing that we would add is that the symbols used for what facilities are available are misleading hence a star taken off. There is NO bath although the picture for the bathroom strongly suggests there is one. For one of our party, this was a big deal. There should be just a shower symbol. The cottage is well placed and well equipped for a lovely stay. Cannot fault the location; didn't use the car all week, which is just as well due to the tight squeeze of my large car into the parking area. We would return. Thank you for a wonderful week!
