15 The Plosh is a delightful little refurbished cottage, full of character and charm. The cottage is situated at the end of a terrace of similarly charming houses on The Plosh, a moderately quiet road leading from Keswick into the Borrowdale Valley. Two well behaved dogs are permitted.
The cottage is accessed from the side via a stable door (useful for containing the dog in the summer), which leads directly into a small but well-planned kitchen, in which an electric oven and ceramic hob, mircowave, under-counter fridge-freezer and washing machine are situated. The kitchen looks out onto the enclosed yard with seating for four people and an ideal place to relax after a long day on the fells. A lockable cupboard is located just around the corner where muddy boots and walking gear can be stored
The kitchen leads into a small and cosy open plan dining and living area, which features a welcoming open fireplace. A corner settee seats three to four people and there is a comfy armchair from which to view the FreeSat TV, which also has a built in DVD player. The owner has thoughtfully provided some dvd's, books and board games should you require additional evening entertainment. A shower room with basin and WC are also to be found on the ground floor.
In addition to the orginal oak beams, the spiral staircase is one of many characteristic features of this lovely cottage. It may not be suitable for young children or adults who struggle with their balance, but it certainly turns the ascent onto the next floor into a bit of a mini adventure...!* Fear not night time stumblings to the bathroom, however, as there is another shower room with basin and WC situated on the first floor.
In keeping with the rest of the cottage, the bedrooms are bijoux, full of character and have lovely soft furnishings. The double bedroom contains a double bed and a double wardrobe; the two singles in the twin room can be pushed together and made into a king size bed upon request. It also includes a chest of drawers and a small hanging rail with wooden hangers.
Outside is a small enclosed yard with seating for four people and easily accessible private parking for one car. Whilst enclosed, we can't guarantee that this will be 'escape-proof' for the more determined and agile dogs.
* The spiral staircase may not be to everyone's liking, but there is an brick staircase outside (just two steps from the side door) that leads from the yard to the double bedroom on the first floor. It is quite an unusual arrangement, but may be appreciated by those for whom the spiral staircase doesn't appeal.
