Lovely cottage in a lovely village! Had all the basics and good value for money. Shower was a bit blocked and toilet tricky to flush, but minor things, overall clean and comfortable. Great area to explore from with beautiful lakes only 20 minutes away!

Hi Sarah, many thanks for your comments, I'm delighted to hear you had such a great time exploring! I've passed your shower comment on to the maintenance team to look into. It really is a great cottage, isn't it? Hope to see you again soon!

Options for cottages in Wasdale are limited. We chose Cherry Trees as We felt Gosforth Would be a good base for walking in the Western Lakes. We knew it was basic when we booked, which is fair enough. However, it was filthy - eg mould in the fridge, thick dust on surfaces/lamps etc, bread crumbs on the kitchen work surfaces etc. There was even someone else’s dirty walking sock in the corner of the utility area. Rather surprising as it should have been spotless post Covid (our stay started 10 July, just after lockdown). The upstairs toilet flush was faulty. the shower was hot and powerful but didn’t drain properly. Generally the house is in poor repair. No working corkscrew - seems minor until you can’t open a bottle of wine. Plenty of crockery and glassware. WiFi ok. No dishwasher, but this wasn’t really an issue. No facility for recycling at property, despite being available for adjacent properties- can take cardboard/plastics to recycling bins in Gosforth car park, but glass had to be taken to Seascale. The entrance to the drive was used as a random car park, and was blocked by a car when we returned one day.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review from your stay at 1 Cherry Trees, although I am sorry to hear that you had some areas of concern during your holiday. I am surprised to hear that the cottage was not as clean as you would expect on arrival, please be assured the property was cleaned ahead of your stay and I apologise that these areas were missed. I am liaising with the cleaner to get these points addressed, so that this can be improved moving forward. I will also have a look into the issues with the toilet and shower, plus getting a corkscrew to the cottage. Please do always feel free to contact me during your holiday, so that I can rectify any concerns there and then for you - I always want visitors to have the best stay possible and like to know if anything isn't quite right. The owner does have a commercial waste agreement, meaning that all waste can go into the main bin and the recycling is then sorted through afterward. They are going to update the information in the cottage, so that this is clearer for future guests. Finally I am sorry that you were blocked in during your stay - this is something out of my control I'm afraid, but I hope other drivers will be more considerate in future. I hope you were able to make the most of the Western Lakes during your stay and got some good walks in. We appreciate your feedback and do hope you can return to the area in the future.
