1 The Barns is a converted 19th century semi-detached barn that has been refurbished offering a high standard of self catering holiday accommodation. This pet friendly property is in a peaceful rural setting within the picturesque hamlet of Guardhouse, near Threlkeld and Keswick.
The property has been sympathetically refurbished, combining modern convenience with period features. 1 The Barns can sleep up to 6 people in comfort, in a double room, a twin room and a cleverly designed fold away king sized bed.
The Glenderamackin river passes through the hamlet with a pleasant footpath along it's banks. 1 The Barns is overlooked by the impressive south face of Blencathra and it's craggy ridges and beyond the property to the north is Clough Head and Great Dodd. Guardhouse is conveniently located half a mile from the A66, yet the peace and quiet of the hamlet feels miles from anywhere.
A brisk fifteen minute walk along a signed footpath brings you to the White Horse pub at Scales. The village of Threlkeld, with two pubs to choose from, is just over a mile from the property. Keswick is a ten minute drive from Guardhouse and the bustling market town caters well for visitors with numerous pubs, cafes and tea rooms and a growing number of interesting independent shops.
The bathroom has been updated and new photos will follow in the new year. The kitchen features a new dishwasher, cooker and fridge freezer.
