Ulverston Music Festival!

Ulverston Music Festival is taking place over the next few days in the scenic surroundings of this traditional market town. This location is considered a well-kept secret with beautiful countryside just a stone throw from the town. Concerts take place in locations across Ulverston including the beautiful Concert Hall, several cafes in town and a wonderful old parish Church.

This south west corner or Cumbria is packed full of unspoilt landscapes, peaceful vistas and quiet lanes. Here you can escape the hustle and bustle of tourist honey traps. This really is the most idyllic place for the Classical Music performed by top performers.

The festival was founded by acclaimed pianist Anthony Hewitt in 2004 and has grown in size each from modest beginnings to include orchestral and choral concerts. The 2012 festival will features a programme of piano-based chamber music and recitals complimented by guitar and café concerts. The Laurel and Hardy Museum is located in the heart of Ulverston, birthplace of of Stan Laurel, and well worth a visit whilst you are there and a great wet weather attraction.

The main festival is taking place from 26th June in several locations in Ulverston and here at Sally’s Cottages we can offer several well located self catering cottages for those considering a last minute break.

Fairfield is in the village of Priest Hutton, well situated for exploring south east Cumbria and Lancashire. We also have Woodgate Hall and its smaller separate cottage, two superb properties looking towards Coniston. Tenterfield is a spacious barn conversion in the pretty village of Hallthwaites. In Duddon there is Spring Bank, a delightful old house for 10, ideal for family gatherings and Duddon View a barn conversion with modern facilities.
