Cosy holiday cottage in the market town of Cockermouth, within easy reach of some of the western Lake District’s quieter landmarks and just 14 miles from Keswick and Derwentwater.

Situated within walking distance of Cockermouth, this impressive holiday home holiday cottage at High Moor offers comfortable and stylish self-catering accommodation for couples and small families. The property is set in the grounds of a large and beautiful garden, which guests are welcome to make use of.

Cockermouth is a great starting point to explore the Lake District being within easy access of the quieter, western side yet having all the comforts and ease of the services Cockermouth has to offer with its supermarket, butcher, baker, cafes, pubs, restaurants and cinema. Loweswater Lake is the property's nearest lake with lovely woodland walks and a tranquil escape from day to day living. For the more energetic, Skiddaw is one of the highest mountains in the Lake District and is a 15 minute drive away. Or Keswick is twenty minutes away with its busy centre and Derwentwater Lake which has rowing boats, self drive motor boats and the launch.

The front door leads to the kitchen which is clean and modern. It is fully equipped with electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, small freezer, dishwasher and storage space. A welcome pack of wine, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits greets you upon arrival. For those who like to be woken with fresh coffee, there is a cafetiere with coffee provided.

The sitting room next door is light and spacious. It has widescreen TV with DVD player plus an assortment of books and games to borrow. There is a gas fire for additional warmth.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one with a set of adult sized bunks, the other with a double bed. There is also a bathroom with shower above the bath.

Outside there is use of a large garden which is shared with High Moor Cottage and the owners who live in High Moor House. By the cottage is a patio with garden furniture for the exclusive use of guests staying at the property.

  • Please note for guests with children there is a water feature in the large garden and children should be supervised at all times
  • Please note, the property only allows small - medium size dogs

  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Marvellous property, clean & today having everything you need. Excellent location. Owners Gloria & Tony are lovely people. We chatted with Tony a few times during our stay, such a nice guy. We hope to book again later in the year.

The Lodge is a lovely place to stay . The property was always warm and cosy which was lovely when we came back after our long walks . Plenty of hot water for your shower or bath which was great. Really close to all the shops , bars etc plus Harris park only five minutes away. A bonus of a parking space next to the property . The welcome pack was a Read morelovely gesture by the owners .... Deceptively spacious, dog friendly cottage with off-street parking in a great location for exploring the NW Lake District. This is one of the best cottages we've stayed in and we had a great time despite the stormy autumn weather. I appreciated the kitchen equipment which included everything you'd need without surplus junk. Very short walk to superRead moremarkets and not much farther to town centre with interesting shops. Everything you could wish for and more. Couldnt have chosen a better location and stay than at High Moor Lodge. Cockermouth is a brilliant base for exploring the Lakes and the coast and theres a great park just five minutes walk from the Lodge - great for the dog! The Lodge is in a great location. Takeaways, restaurants. Pubs , bus service just a short walk away. Harris Park just a few minutes walk away if you have a dog or just for a nice walk along the River Cocker. Also in a great location for exploring the northern area of the Lake District. We received a lovely welcome from Gloria and Tony shortly after arrival with a nice welcome pack. We love the Lakes and this Lodge is set away from the busy areas of the Lakes however with easy access to get to them. Beautiful views and some nice walks in Cockermouth too. I would recommend this Lodge.

Pretty setting with mature gardens - easy access to town by foot, and to lakes. Met owners who were very nice. Welcome pack a nice touch. All towels etc included which was great. We will return!!
