Just 4 miles from the lively Georgian market town of Cockermouth, with its shops, supermarket, pubs and many restaurants, the barn makes a great base for a holiday, whatever the time of year. The nearest pub is The Old Posting House just one mile away at Deanscales. Other good pubs include The Royal Yew at Dean (2 miles) and the Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater (5 miles). Loweswater, Buttermere and Ennerdale are all on the doorstep, putting the cottage in an ideal location for exploring the unspoilt mountains, lakes and valleys of the western Lake District. With Whitehaven harbour and the beaches of the Solway Firth and St Bees 20-35 mins away, the Cumbrian coast is also within easy reach.
