What a fabulous lodge this is! We had a wonderful weekend away and will definitely stay here again. The Lodge was stunning and our every need was catered for. The location was great and a good base to go exploring the Lakes and surrounding areas!

The lodge is located on a purpose built park of similar lodges (wood cabins) and the location of Hyggeby is good being on top of a hill with a degree of privacy. The building is very well fitted out, well designed and spacious but you have to be prepared to do a fair amount of driving to access the Lakes. As a family with young children (7 and 8yrs) however, we would have benefitted from an onsite playground of some description, the lodge does come with a small garden but is not catering specifically for kids. Walk highlight: take the ferry from Pooley Bridge one stop to Howton Ullswater landing pier, then walk 7 miles along the lake to Glenridding and ferry return. Meal highlight pizza from wood fired oven at Askham Hall 3 miles from lodge.
