Escape to the heart of the Eden Valley to enjoy wonderful rural walks in the Lake District or Pennines before returning to the garden for a BBQ overlooking tranquil pastures and woodland.
This delightful barn conversion is located in the picturesque Eden Valley. The property has been tastefully and sympathetically converted whilst retaining original features. The peaceful countryside location is in the heart of the Eden Valley yet only a short distance from Penrith, Ullswater and the Lake District. The well-equipped cottage is surrounded by a large shared garden and also benefits from its own private garden and patio with BBQ. From this elevated position between Kirkoswald and Renwick you can enjoy uninterrupted views across tranquil pastures and woodlands towards the hills of the Lake District and Pennines.
The complex was originally built as a working farm during the middle of the 17th century. All the buildings here are constructed using the local red Lazonby Sandstone, both for the walls and the traditional sandstone tiled roofs. This cottage is an ideal base for walking and cycling (only a mile from the Coast to Coast route) or for exploring the Eden Valley, Lakes, Pennines and Hadrian’s Wall.
Formerly the dairy, this is a spacious detached cottage arranged all on ground floor level. Inside is a comfortable lounge with a Smart TV and wood burner. There is a fully-fitted kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, integrated dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment and microwave as well as a dining table and chairs for four people. A washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer are located in a shared utility/laundry room.
The cottage has two bedrooms: a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom (these beds can be made into a super-king with prior arrangement), both of which have en-suite bathrooms with a shower and WC. To reduce single-use plastic usage, we no longer provide complimentary toiletries in the bathrooms. Instead, we provide The Bath House hand wash and hand cream that we can refill.
To the front of the property there is a patio area with seating and a BBQ. This is enclosed by farm fencing, gates and a dry stone wall. To one side and the back of the property there is a private enclosed garden that has various seating options to help you follow the sun! In addition, there is also access to a large shared garden that has various seating options and stunning views of the Renwick fells. There is also designated parking right by the cottage.
For larger groups, this cottage can be booked alongside three other cottage on site, sleeping six, three and two additional guests.
