High Bridge is situated on a charming terrace of Lakeland cottages above the tumbling Coledale Beck. In a prime location in the village of Braithwaite, the self catering holiday cottage offers scores of walks for all abilities straight from its front door. The cottage has eco features such as solar panels, A-rated appliances and recycling bins and fairtrade coffee and tea is provided.
Braithwaite is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding mountains, rivers and lakes. Whether it be mountainous walks up in the Coledale Fells, gentle strolls around Derwent Water or paddling and picnicking in the Newlands Valley, all are easily reached on foot from the village. Rising above Braithwaite is the mountain forest of Whinlatter with numerous mountain bike trails and high ropes course (Go Ape). The village shop is well stocked with a deli counter, traditional sweet jars and fresh bread and groceries. Braithwaite is well served with three pubs/inns. all serving food.
Keswick is within walking distance or a 5 minute drive where there are further pubs and restaurants as well an independent supermarket. Keswick is a hub of outdoor activity and there is something to do for everyone in the local area. Cockermouth, the home of Wordsworth, is a 15 minute drive and while you are there it's well worth paying a visit to the Jennings Brewery.
Next door to High Bridge is another cottage, Highbridge Cottage, which sleeps 4/5 people.
