• Leave the M6 motorway at junction 36 for Kendal/Lakes.
• Follow signs to Barrow (A590).
• Turn right to Workington (A5092) 3 miles beyond Newby Bridge and follow this road for 10 miles (it bypasses Broughton-in-Furness).
• Turn right to Ulpha before the River Duddon (at the traffic lights 3/4 mile beyond Broughton).
• After 4 miles turn left in Ulpha village to the steep hill signed Eskdale.
• Follow the fell road to the King George IV pub (6 miles).
• Turn right up the valley road.
• After two miles you will reach the Brook House Inn. Turn left here.
• Continue to the end of the road.
• Opposite the Boot Inn, just before the hump backed bridge there is a track to your right (it has a wooden sign saying bridleway and no unauthorised vehicles - there is also a white painted sign saying no parking, tractors turning).
• Go up this track, keep left when it forks and you will eventually come to Gillbank which is on your left just before the road leads to the Temple's farmyard. Please park within the grounds of Gillbank (there are two gates to allow for a full turning circle).

From the North

• Leave the M6 at Carlisle (junction 44) and follow the A595 (signed Barrow).
• Turn off at Gosforth and follow the road (6 miles) to Eskdale.
• Keep going right through Eskdale Village until you come to the George IV on your right.
• At the George, turn left up the valley road.
• After two miles you will reach the Brook House Inn. Turn left here.
• Continue to the end of the road.

Please Note:
The road to Gill Bank is a fairly steep farm track which is currently not in a good state of repair. We therefore advise guests not to bring low cars as these may bottom out on the potholes.
