The Belle Vue pub in Papcastle is within walking distance of the cottage and serves real ale (Jennings) and excellent homecooked bar meals.

Loweswater Lake is Garden View's nearest lake with lovely woodland walks. For the more energetic, Skiddaw is one of the highest mountains in the Lake District and is a fifteen minute drive away.
