Esk View

Description

General Introduction

NON-SMOKERS ONLY

NO SINGLE SEX GROUPS

Esk View is ideal for large extended families or groups of friends sharing a holiday, providing self-catering holiday accommodation for groups of up to 16 people. This spacious house stands alone in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with exceptional views of the Lake District fells.

Built in 1898, Esk View has been sympathetically modernized, retaining Victorian features such as a mahogany staircase, marble fireplaces, kitchen flagstones and exposed beams.

Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house. The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and fishing.

The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains making the leisurely seven-mile journey down to the sea. There are five pubs in the valley, the Boot Inn and The Brook House Inn in the hamlet of Boot are a 10 minute walk away. All welcome children and serve real ales and a wide choice of good food. Eskdale village shop, Eskdale Stores, sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers.
